Instead, Santa Fe County purchased the area, using a combination of bond money and private donations. Currently, the property is managed by Santa Fe County Open Space and Trails. The open space is accessible from Old Agua Fria Road East as well as Arroyo Hondo Road. Above a historic dam, the area creates a small wetland. A seasonal stream, the Arroyo Hondo, flows along the southern boundary of the parcel. On the property, you can see plenty of ravens and occasionally, flights of pinon jays or an elusive Townsends Solitaire. Bobcat, deer, coyotes, weasels and squirrels have all been observed coming to water. The views are spectacular.
